Meet Our Distinguished Ballet Mistress

Ballet Mistress

Princess Jackson

La’Toya Princess Jackson is a celebrated writer, performing artist, and dance historian with a deep commitment to preserving and advancing African American contributions to the performing arts. A proud alumna of Clark Atlanta University and Harvard University, Princess holds a Master of Liberal Arts in Dramatic Arts from Harvard Extension School, where her graduate thesis focused on the legacy and evolution of historically Black ballet companies in the United States. Her interdisciplinary expertise spans Black performance studies, ballet history, and the cultural impact of Black female identity in contemporary music and pop culture. She has worked professionally in the ballet field with Boston Ballet, led ballet outreach initiatives at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta and Boston, and served as a Resident Artist for Harvard College’s First Year Arts Program for four years. In 2023, she founded LaPrincess Ballet Co to expand access to high-quality ballet training for BIPOC youth. She is also the writer and producer of Vanity Lane, a full-length original fairytale ballet that debuted at Harvard and celebrates the beauty of the African diaspora. As Ballet Mistress for June’s Academy of Ballet, Princess leads our In Studio Experience education, ensures the quality and consistency of our mobile dance instruction, and develops classical ballet curriculum that intentionally nurtures self-love, confidence, and cultural pride in each student. Her leadership and artistic vision play a vital role in shaping the Academy’s standard of excellence in both dance education and community impact.
